Soroptimist International of Carmel Bay was welcomed into the world by the communities of the Monterey Peninsula on November 20, 1982. Today we welcome you!

You are invited to meet us, learn more about our club, and our missions. You may find you’d like to become part of our crew of women aiming to improve the lives of women and girls locally on the Monterey Peninsula as well as throughout the world.

SI Carmel Bay is one of 42 clubs in the Sierra Pacific Region.

The more than 1400 Soroptimist clubs in our federation encompass 19 countries and territories in North and South America, Asia and the Philippines. The very first Soroptimist club was established not far from here in Oakland, California in 1921.

Ninety years later there are 95,000 members all across the world. The week of July 20-23, 2016 Soroptimists from four federations will convene in Orlando Florida for our biannual Soroptimist International of the Americas Convention. We will see women from the Phillipines and Japan, from Guam to Hawaii, as well as the US and Canada, all of whom are members of our SIA federation.

Closer to home, our SICB members live and work in Carmel, Carmel Valley, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Seaside, and Marina; as well as one member resides in Prunedale and another member in Hollister!   We run quite the spectrum of  the central coast of California!

We currently have 19 members but we’re always looking for that special woman who wants to help support our mission to improve the lives of women and girls.  In fact, we are looking for another 10 members as we aim to increase our membership in the 2015-2016 club year. Now is an exciting time to join as we look towards our next Live Your Dream Awards to be granted in April, 2016 at our annual Awards Dinner; and increase our presence for assisting homeless women in our community, most of whom are elderly.

We are also looking for presenters who speak on subjects of interest to our members, such as women’s issues and other topics, as our members enjoy learning about a wide array of current or relevant issues.

Like other community service clubs, we are always looking for fund raising ideas. We accept charitable contributions, as well. SI Carmel Bay, like all U.S. Soroptimist clubs, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
